Comprehensive Trauma Informed Therapy for Stress and Trauma
Therapy for Trauma and Stressor Related Issues
People often try to avoid facing their traumatic experiences in an attempt to leave them behind. Unfortunately, trauma can adversely impact multiple aspects of a person’s life when left untreated, from inhibiting relationships to the formation of anxiety-related disorders. Moreover, trauma is the foundation for many types of mental complications, including depression and substance abuse.
Types of trauma and stress-related disorders include:
- Developmental trauma
- Relational trauma
- Physical trauma
- Sexual trauma
- Post-traumatic stress disorder
- Acute stress disorder
When it comes to trauma, I prioritize compassion and safety. Different types of events can cause varying levels of trauma depending on the person. And negative experience can often incite a traumatic emotional response. Naturally, my job is not to judge your experience but to help you through it.
How Does Therapy Help With Trauma And Stressor Related Issues?
Trauma therapy starts with validation and building rapport. Once trust has been established, we work on normalizing unpleasant feelings and addressing unresolved emotions or memories that have been avoided. One of the ways trauma can be addressed is by transforming the way someone thinks about a traumatic event into something positive, helping them to regain a sense of control over the experience and their life.
